Round 6 Preview – PS4 NPL 2 NSW Women’s

18.05.2017

The action continues in the PS4 NPL 2 NSW Women's competition with teams looking to create momentum to unseat the current top four headlined by our Match of the Round: Marconi Stallions vs Gladesville Ravens.

Match of the Round: Marconi Stallions vs Gladesville Ravens, Sunday 21st May, 3pm, Marconi Stadium #2

The Match of the Round heads to Marconi Stadium #2 this weekend to watch sixth take on eighth in a vital match for both teams.

Both sides come into this weekend off losses, Stallions a 3-1 loss to Sydney Olympic while Gladesville were edged out by Bankstown City Lions 2-0.

Marconi Stallions by their own standards have been lackluster to start the season so will eye this weekend as an opportunity to register a second victory for the season.

Gladesville Ravens aren't a team to take lightly though, coach Jose De Costa has his side well drilled and captain Alex Beattie leads her side around the park well.

It sets up for an intriguing contest to play out as the two teams look to move themselves closer to the top four.

Sydney Olympic FC vs Central Coast Mariners, Sunday 21st May, 3pm, Peter Moore Park

Sydney Olympic look to continue their red hot form as they host Central Coast Mariners this Sunday at Peter Moore Park.

The hosts made it two on the bounce with a 3-1 victory over Marconi Stallions while Mariners suffered a narrow loss to Inter Lions.

Olympic have found their shooting boots in recent weeks headlined by Madeleine Costanzo with five goals thus far this season. She will be someone the Mariners will need to keep an eye on.

For the Mariners – it has been a slow start to the competition but they need to start putting some results together to shoot up the table.

Southern Branch FC vs Inter Lions SC, Sunday 21st May, 3pm, South Nowra Football Complex

Following a spirited performance in the match of the round, Southern Branch FC head home to Nowra to take on Inter Lions.

These two sides were on opposite sides of results last weekend as Southern Branch were downed 9-1 as Inter Lions inched out a 1-nil victory at Pluim Park.

Winger Brittany Anderson was a bright spot for the south coast side and Inter Lions defense needs to be on point down either flank.

Inter Lions sit fifth currently and victory this weekend with some other results could vault them into the top four.

Nepean FC vs Sutherland Shire FA, Sunday 21st May, 3pm, Cook Park

Fresh from a week off, Nepean FC take on the challenge of the undefeated Sutherland Shire FA coming to Cook Park.

Sutherland Shire were impressive as they saw off Southern Branch FC 9-1 as Raegan Deeley scored a bag of goals for her first time on the scoresheet this season.

Her combination with Jordan Baker up front with prove a stern test for a Nepean outfit that has proven to be a stubborn opponent in the opening month.

Nepean FC have also proven they can knock over the heavyweights of the division in their victory over Sydney Olympic so it makes for an exciting contest to unfold Sunday afternoon.
