Waratah Cup Semi-Finals announced

Sydney United 58 and Blacktown City FC have both continued their run towards taking out their first piece of silverware in 2017 after both teams proved too strong for their PS4 NPL 2 NSW Men’s opponents in their Waratah Cup quarter-final matches played midweek.

On Tuesday evening at Sydney United Sports Centre, 2016 NPL Champions and current Waratah Cup holders Sydney United 58 took on PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues 2 NSW Men’s outfit Bankstown Berries who previously knocked out Sydney Olympic to reach the Westfield Round of 32 FFA Cup.

Perry Moustakas’ men fought gallantly in the first half as it remained 0-0 at the break however the Reds flexed their muscles in the second scoring three goals via Panny Nikas, Nick Olsen and Adrian Vranic to send them to the semi-final stage.

Mark Rudan’s next assignment in the historic Waratah Cup will be a clash against fellow PS4 NPL NSW Men’s side Hakoah Sydney City East on Wednesday 28th of June.

Wednesday evening saw a local derby take shape as 2016 PS4 NPL NSW Men’s Champions Blacktown City faced the PS4 NPL 2 NSW Men’s new kids on the block Hills Brumbies.

After scores were level at the break, the flood gates opened up in the second half at Lilys Football Centre as Mark Crittenden’s men pushed the accelerator with James Andrew bagging a memorable hat-trick and Mitch Mallia grabbing a brace.

That’s set up a titanic Waratah Cup semi-final on Wednesday 28th of June when Blacktown City take on APIA Leichhardt Tigers in a top of the table clash.
