Alex Tobin bids farewell to Football NSW

Former Socceroo captain Alex Tobin will say goodbye to Football NSW after six years in the Football NSW Technical Department, accepting a new role as the Hills United Technical Director for season 2018.

Alex has played a very important role in the development of players and coaches during this time.

He was charged with implementing the National Curriculum processes through Football NSW under the guidelines of the FFA / Football NSW Member Charter.

Through this time elite programs expanded and coach accreditation levels were significantly increased.

Football NSW also ran more Advanced Coaching Courses than any other State.

Tobin not only brought a wealth of playing experience to Football NSW but his coaching experiences and qualifications were key in providing the state with one of the best resources to date.

“Whilst we are sorry to see Alex go, we are pleased that he will not be lost to Football in NSW,” Football NSW CEO Stuart Hodge stated.

“He will continue to be with us for the next few months in a part-time capacity to assist Gary van Egmond when he commences his role as the new Head of Elite Football Development and Education in October.

“We would like to wish Alex all the best with his future endeavours and thank him for his wonderful service for the game in NSW.”

Tobin was looking forward to his future challenge and acknowledged the work of many during his six years.

“I am very proud of the skilled work that has been done by all coaches, coach educators and support staff for the wide variety of Technical Programs that I oversaw during my time at Football NSW.

“Development programs in Australia are often faced with particular challenges that requires people of great character and resilience to work through to succeed.

“Many of those individuals have since moved on to Hyundai A-League, Westfield W-League and National Team programs as have many of the young players, boys and girls, that they have coached.

“I hope that they, and those who remain, realise what significant impact they have had on our great game and the players and coaches within it.”
