Football NSW (FNSW) is the governing body for association football (soccer) and Futsal in New South Wales, with the exception of the northern regions of NSW (the governing body for which is Northern New South Wales Football).  Football NSW is a member of the national governing body, Football Federation Australia (FFA). There are over 200,000 participants and over 700 individual clubs within the FNSW membership. 


The headquarters of Football NSW are located at Valentine Sport Park. In addition to housing Football NSW staff offices, the venue includes 5 playing fields, lecture rooms, indoor sports hall and 20 metre indoor pool.

Head of Finance and Business Systems


Football NSW is the governing body for Football and Futsal in the Australian state of New South Wales, with the exception of the northern regions of NSW.

Located in Glenwood, Sydney, Football NSW is a member of the national governing body, Football Federation Australia (FFA).

Reporting directly to a highly motivated Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for providing financial strategy, leadership and management of systems. You will have four direct reports.

You will continually be looking at improving processes in line with the strategic and operations needs of the organisation.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES ARE:

Oversee the day to day operations of the Finance, IT and Administration

Manage the implementation and maintenance of a financial and accounting system that meets statutory and business requirements

Manage monthly and fiscal account requirements including statutory and tax obligations

Maintain working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders by providing information service that is value-adding and delivered in a timely manner

Provide accurate monthly reports relating to finance and other departments under your control to the CEO and Board, as well as other stakeholders as required

Provide sound leadership, mentoring and coaching to team members

Lead the preparation of statutory annual accounts and clearance through external auditors

Establish systems and metrics that both drive and measure performance of the business against budget and financial strategy

Maintain positive relationships with bankers, professional advisors and auditors

Foster an environment of continuous improvement and best-practice across business growth, reporting, information systems, internal control and risk management

Support new business requirements through robust financial modeling and business case preparation

Provide the business with informed strategic financial direction

Regular analysis of all procurement contracts and purchases to ensure cost effective solutions are identified and implemented

With key-personnel across other departments, lead the process of continual review, identification and provision of insight for business improvement

Review and document systems, procedures and processes to promote continuous improvement across all departments

Stay abreast of legislative changes to ensure the organisation's compliance in all areas under your control

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor of Business or Commerce majoring in Accounting

CA/ CPA qualifications

Sound commercial experience

Strong leadership skills

Good organisational, planning and communication skills

Ability to cope with change and conflicting demands

Significant financial accounting and reporting experience

Ability to produce written and verbal commentary for CEO and Board decision making

Full understanding of the Fair Work Act 2009 and Modern Awards

Working knowledge of payroll and other legislative obligations

Ability to engage stakeholders with informative, relevant presentations

Advanced Microsoft Office skills (especially MS Excel)

Proven knowledge of finance and accounting packages

Proven experience in process improvement and technological integration

Managing insurance and other financial protections (including foreign-exchange transactions)

Experience in overseeing organisational IT & C systems, especially enterprise management systems

Experience in development and management of business risk management systems

Demonstrated experience in establishing and delivering a strategic (value-added business insight, not rudimentary) finance information function

Demonstrated experience in Asset Management

Demonstrated experience Investment and Liquidity Strategy development

Other requirements

Flexible work hours may be required from time to time including night and weekend work

Working with Children Number for paid workers
