Three rounds to go and all to play for. It is only Central Coast Lightning who could be said to have effectively finished their season, the rest of the Super League clubs have everything to give as the season draws towards its dramatic conclusion.

Round 19 produced upsets and some great matches which augers well for the run in to the season’s finale. With teams towards the bottom of the table beating some of the more fancied opponents it just goes to show how even the Super League competition is this year.

Parramatta’s thirteenth win of the season moved them a step closer to claiming the Premiership after their 3-0 win over Central Coast, coupled with Northern Tigers’ surprise loss to Fraser Park, and St George’s draw, left them eight points clear of second position with just four rounds to play.

Parramatta Eagles with their win move to 7 points clear on the league table as this weekend finishes; though there is a ravenous pack of six clubs pursuing them, waiting for more of their recent stumbles. Fraser Park and Mount Druitt for their part must fear being handed that spoon made of wood come 15 August.

The NSW Super League is the second tier of Men’s Football in the NSW; following the NSW Premier League.

The competition consists of 12 teams competing in a round-robin structure where each side plays one another twice; upon completion a Premier is crowned. Premiers are eligible for promotion to the NSW Premier League if club meets the relevant criteria.

The top five sides by the end of the season compete in the Championship Series. The Championship Series consists of six games, whereby the five teams competing are whittled down to just two. The teams are seeded upon their entry into the Championship Series according to their final position on the ladder. The final two teams compete in the Grand Final, with the winner crowned NSW Super League Champions.
